EMDR Consulting for Therapists
EMDR consultation is a dedicated, collaborative space where EMDR-trained therapists refine their clinical skills, strengthen adherence to the 8-phase protocol, and build confidence working with complex trauma cases. Whether you are preparing for EMDRIA certification or seeking advanced support, consultation is designed to meet you where you are and help you grow.
My Approach and Expertise
I am an EMDR Certified Therapist and Consultant-in-Training (CIT) affiliated with the Precision EMDR Academy. As a CIT, I am authorized to provide up to 15 of the 20 consultation hours required for EMDRIA Certification. My work integrates specialized training in:
Trauma treatment and case conceptualization
Somatic and Polyvagal-informed EMDR approaches
Nervous system regulation and resourcing strategies
Ego state interventions, including IFS-informed and DNMS techniques
This combination of depth and precision allows me to offer targeted guidance that goes beyond general case consultation.
What You Can Expect
EMDR consultation is tailored to your clinical needs and stage of development. Common topics include:
Case conceptualization using the 8-phase EMDR model
Target selection and identifying negative/positive cognitions
Assessment and preparation strategies, especially for complex or dissociative clients
Resourcing techniques (e.g., Calm Place, containment, ego states work)
Fidelity to protocol and understanding when and how to modify
Navigating blocked processing or looping
Working with abreactions, dissociation, or stuck points
Ethical decision-making and scope-of-practice considerations
Integration of complementary modalities, like ego state therapy, somatic approaches, Polyvagal Theory, HeartMath, or Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (when appropriate)
Readiness for certification and how to prepare for submitting your EMDRIA application
Each session is interactive and collaborative, with space for questions, discussion, and reflection.

The remaining 5 hours must be completed with an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant. In addition, as a CIT I am unable to provide a recommendation letter, and other EMDRIA Consultants may have requirements for their letters.

Yes. Prior to your first consultation session, you’ll receive a contract outlining the expectations, scope of services, confidentiality limits, and EMDRIA requirements for certification hours. This ensures clarity and protects the integrity of our work together. You'll need to review and sign it before your first session can be confirmed.

At this time, EMDR consultation for certification is only available to clinicians who have completed both Part 1 and Part 2 of an EMDRIA-Approved Basic Training.
